The subject matter was more advanced than what was being taught in public schools (I know, because I ended up in public school for a while, and it was like going back to the Stone Age). A great deal was expected of the students, so we did our best to live up to those expectations. What I didn't like was some of the snobbishness and class consciousness (it seemed that kids from prominent, wealthy families got treated a bit better), and some of the discipline was a bit excessive (it didn't take much to get expelled, and even less to get in other types of serious trouble), and some of the staff didn't seem to understand what it was ever like to be young and have questions. But on the whole, I'd recommend it.

I got a wonderful education in Catholic school. They were totally no-nonsense Behavior was never a problem because the nuns were very strict. I dont know the way it is now. I do know the tuition is high and getting into a Catholic school is very hard. Maybe that says something about the quality of the education. I'd be inclined to inquire at one of the schools and ask questions about the curriculum and the teachers.

The non religious subjects (math, science, english, etc.) were far more advanced than the public schools. It wasn't until my junior year (in a public high school) that I began covering new material consistently (catholic school until freshman year).

Beyond that though, there is little (if anything) that I can say good about the experience. I was one of the few kids who's parents were seperated, and neither was a doctor, lawyer, etc. Money and status determined the way both clergy and lay teachers viewed you, as a student. Questioning the bible was a sure-fire way to get suspended. It was a rare occasion to see the example that the bible put forth, actually practiced.

I appreciated the discipline , but wont recommend it unless You R a Catho.
My daughter studied in Auxilium Convent High School, where Section A was reserved exclusively for Catho. students. TheHead Girls, captains, scholarship holders would all be cathos.
We Protestants were huddled in Sec. B & C with misc.Pagans, like Hindus, muslims & sikhs. This partiality against protestants & other nonCathos I didn't like.

I went to St Ann's elementary then moved to Georgia and entered into public school. I stopped living up to my potential. I've taken some college courses and do a lot of self- study. Based on the differences in atmosphere and expectation if you can go do so.

Expensive but worth it over public schools, especially in an urban area. Dress code was tough but I have no trouble putting on a suit and tie for the rest of my life.
