After several episodes of bleeding rectally I was given a colonoscopy and an endoscope. They could not find any reason behind this other than IBS caused from anxiety. They put me on bentyl and klonopin. that was a year ago. I just moved out of state and lost my insurance so I have not been able to go to a doctor here and I ran out of my bentyl 3 weeks ago, which I never took that regularly anyway. I would forget becuase it didn't seem to have much of an effect. But the klonopin did, but I was running low and I knew I couldn't just stop taking that so a week ago I started weening myself off and after a year with no problems I started bleeding again today. So I took a klonopin and I seem to be fine now but I don't want to continue taking this medicine even IF I can get to a Dr. because of the long term effects of it. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Have you tried increasing your fiber intake? I've never actually been diagnosed with IBS, but I suspect I may have it, and getting 20-25 grams of fiber per day has helped a lot. Whether you're having diarrhea or constipation with your IBS, fiber will help a whole lot.

Can Stress Cause Rectal Bleeding

I had something similiar to Nicki. I'm about a month and a half pregnant and during the time I was supposed to get my period, I bled right after having sex. It wasn't like a period because it came quite a few days later and it only lasted about 2 days and it was more of spotting and following by just brownish discharge. If you have been to the doctor don't worry. If something was going on they would've told you by now. But if you feel more comfortable by getting reassurance then feel free to go. It is totally understandable to be concerned but just dont stress out. :) Good luck!

You really need to talk to a doctor and see if you have pilonidal cysts which cause bleeding and are aggravated by stress. They are result in an infection under the skin so a doc may give you an antibiotic and there are other things that your doctor may suggest. Weird; I haven't previously heard of such a thing. Worth consulting a doctor.
