I'm the same as you. The only way I remember (in the morning at least) is by making it the first thing I do when I go in the bathroom. I find a 'bit' easier to remember in the evening - probably because my teeth feel grubbier at the end of the day. I also keep my toothbrush and toothpaste where I can see them. If I hid them in a cupboard, I'd be less likely to remember the teeth cleaning.
There was a time, a few years ago, when I was clinically depressed and neglected my teeth for some time. Consequently, one of my front teeth is damaged, one had to be filled and another one pulled out. You'd think all this would remind me but I still forget occasionally.

Just make it into a routine... Find something you do everyday - like brushing yoru hair, then do it just before that.
Also although your teeth may not be going black, they will probably still be decaying.
And sorry to say this but it also probably means that you will have bad breath - you might not notice it by your friends and family will...
Good luck - do try to brush more - the results will be worth it!

NEVER use a medium bristle toothbrush. only use soft bristles. ask you dentist about that. nothing else is acceptable.
for the last month i've been taking a friend for her dental visits. she's 50 years old and admits she always neglected her teeth. i've watched get teeth pulled, root canals, fillings, and all other types of ungodly procedures done. it has been excruciating just watching. she leaves the office week after week with tears in her eyes and sore knuckles from gripping the chair so tightly. i never want to know what its like to have that done to my own mouth. because i've watched her suffer so much i've come to the decision that i will never again neglect my teeth.
when it comes to dental care, you're not talking about having pain or discolored teeth for the next couple years. you're talking about having horrible oral decay for the next fifty years IF your teeth last that long.
do WHATEVER it takes to get your teeth in order. you'll be paying for an awfully long time if you don't. in addition to the pain you'll also pay with your wallet cuz dental care is extremely expensive.
and remember, there is nothing sexy about a toothless mouth.

What on earth do you find hard?
Get yourself a good medium bristled toothbrush; I find Oral B the best. Ask your Pharmacist to recommend a good toothpaste that will leave your mouth feeling fresh and your breath smelling sweet. Imagine what it must be like to kiss someone with smelly breath and dirty teeth, eeuw!
Get yourself into a routine and DON'T deviate from it!

Breathe on someone at least once a day - they should tell you to go and brush your teeth. (Providing they survive the nauseating experience of your breath)

if it doesnt smell or turn black, I cant see the reason why you are obligated to brush it.
