The playstation 3 can play standard dvd movies and also play high definition blue ray dvds.

Not only does it play standard dvds, but since firmware 1.80 came out a while back, it can also upscale them so they actually look better on hdtvs.

sure .just make sure they are in dvd and not avi or video clip format
