Every pagan, religious or other wise indigenous group of people all had encounters in their words to some "God," or had some set of writings relating specific things (or oral traditions passed down - ever hear of the Hopi Legend?) and often it is perceived that they are the chosen people by their "God," so they make the claim what makes the Hebrews any greater then them (literally speaking)? Native Americans had the Great Spirit, Hindus had Brahma, and this goes on and on. To be honest it’s all allegorical, the bible is not literal but an esoteric allegory and to be a Jew or Hebrew in scriptures is referring to a mindset or condition of a seeker as they progress in their development to become balanced and enlightened to a greater level of consciousness. All scripture or any mystery religion writings are the same thing.

If He revealed Himself to the Pagans, the Hebrews would probably be asking "Why didn't God talk to the Hebrews instead of the Pagans?!"
God had to reaveal Himself in the the place, time and situation that would be most advantageous to get what He needed to accomplish, done.
Jerusalem is so special because that is the place where God chose to reveal Himself to many people. Everyone has different beliefs concerning who He is, but most of them have great devotion to Him.
I believe God revealed who He is and the extent of how real and present He is with us, through the person of Jesus. His first appearance had to be humble as a limited yet powerful human being. If He did not submit Himself under all authority under heaven and humble Himself, even unto death.. there would have been no divinity on earth (without humbleness there is no divinity and no righteousness) And I believe, no enduring salvation or eternal reunification with God.
God bless you...

Jerusalem is the place specified in the Torah as the capital of Israel and also as the place where the Temple (the holiest place in Judaism) was to be built. I do not know why He picked it, you will have to ask G-d.

Simple. Christianity, in essence, has existed for millennia predating its own birth in the form of the multiple religions it was derived from. So, one could say that God, indeed, did see much of the eastern world.

An excellent question, and a star from me also. The Judeo-Christian God seems to me like a local tribal Deity who "made good", so to speak.

God spoke to Abram while he was still pagan. The rest is history. Take it or leave it.
