Hi, this is going to sound dumb but one of my friends who is 15 got caught at K-mart for stealing...she stole about 20$ worth of things, this is in Killeen, Texas...now in this town they have a setup called Teen court http://www.texasteencourt.com/who.aspx...
thats the link, now I was wondering can she clear her slate by attending teen court???

She can clean her slate by turning 18. Things you do when you're a kid don't matter when you're an adult.

Tell her to quit stealing and not to fret too much.

No. The only thing teen court accomplishes is to determine guilt or innocence and if guilty to set a punishment. Punishment for a class C misdemeanor in Texas is not punishable by jail time, only a fine.

That fine may come in the form of Community Service (manual labor usually around the city offices), education (talking to other teens about the consequences of theft), probation, or just a dollar amount (which usually includes restitution to the victim) and court costs.

The record will remain, although it will be sealed when your friend turns 17, assuming she is not still on probation at that time.
