This 'he' is almost a year older than me and may still have a thing for one of his old friends, who absolutely hates me. One of my best friends, who has known him most of his life, has told me that he can be a liar, but that friend lies too. Everyone else says that he'll go out with me, but I really can't see that. I did ask him out before, and he said that he definitely would've said yes, if it hadn't been for 'family problems'. I don't know if I should believe him. And, to make things worse, I keep dreaming about him too. It seems like he's taking over my mind, and I'm completely lost. I'd talk to him face-to-face, if he wasn't seven miles away.

you said that he told you he would have gone out with you before but you dont believe him. why? and why would you want to date someone when you can't trust that what they say is true?
I think i'd need more details to say whether or not he'd consider being with you, but i think the question is...should you be with him?

if this guy is a liar then he's no good.
and if you're questioning if you're good enough for him. (which it sounds like you are) then perhaps you're not ready to be in a relationship yet. getting into something when you're not ok with yourself is doomed to fail. you should know that you're good enough and he should be flattered that you would want to be with him. if he's not, his loss.
