I'm just wondering if that bothers Mormons that they spend Mormon tithing money to pay 2-3 times more for the airfare than necessary. And if they are on private jets -- wow, any idea how much a private jet costs? It can be $10Mill for a modest one. You think this comes out of their own pocket? I dont' think so.

I notice they don't send the Missionaries first class when they fly.

I have never seen it but I heard an apostle mention it in a talk once. He did fly first class.

President Hinkley (the Prophet) has been loaned the Huntsmans person jet to use at this disposal. Jon Huntsman picks up the tab for this himself. It is not anything but a gift and has said It is a please to do something for someone who does so much for others. The other Apostles fly a combination of couch and 1st class. Depending on where they are going and how long the flight is. Also has much as some of them travel I'm sure that they have enough frequent flier miles to upgrade to first class when they want to. Also a lot of travel by the Apostles are done in their personal vehicles to surrounding states.

Yes, the LDS church does pay for their travel for church business. I would not expect it any other way.

Okay, first off, the LDS prophet often flies on the Huntsman jet. Its my understanding that the Huntsmans pay the difference.

Second, most of our apostles and presidency are over the age of 60. As much flying as they do at their advanced ages? I hope they are flying first class...I don't care if my tithing is paying for that, but I doubt it probably is. The church has a ton of money remember, and its not all tithing.

Maybe? Would it matter one way or another if they did? Sometimes I fly first-class and I'm not a Mormon, nor am I a prophet.

Well I don't know...personally, but why would they need to fly? Don't they mainly stay in Salt Lake City?

I guess if they did fly they would fly in a private jet, for security reasons.

Elder Uchtdorf pilots jets.

President Hinckley has been loaned the Huntsman Corp plane for long trips. It would not have been possible or practical to visit some remoter places flying commercial whether first class or not.

Not all the time as I have heard them tell stories of some of the experiences they have had, and some are about first class but others are about coach.
