There's lots of different ways to interpret reversals. . . some people don't even acknowledge them. If there is a card in a future position that is reversed, what would that indicate?

Random. . . and ironically. . . it was the wheel that I saw in reverse. . . and the first two answers referred directly to the wheel. . . . . . . . coincidence? I think NOT. lol.

I don't have the slightest but with a guess I'd say the opposite effect of what the card normally means. Good luck reversed would be equal amount of bad luck.

You can view reversals in different ways, actually. It's not always *just* the "opposite" meaning of the upright card.

Some other ways of looking at reversals are:

- the energy of the card is lessened or weakened

For instance, you point out the Wheel of Fortune. So, let's say, lessened: the Wheel of Fortune seen as a "fortunate" card could indicate a "less fortunate" outcome or influence - not entirely bad bad, but not quite as good as upright. It might be a "minor good luck" heading your way.

- the energy of the card is blocked

Note: blocked as in "blockage / door closed" - which could mean for the Wheel of Fortune - you have no actual options of intervening in the situation in any way ... your own ability to create your own "opportunities" and "good luck" in this matter do not exist, practically, but are dependant on what others do / decide. Otherwise, also simply: no opportunities heading your way or no change of the situation is to be expected (anytime soon).

- some even consider it to point to the "previous" card

In the example of the Wheel of Fortune, that would be the Hermit. You'd than, in this case, refer to the meaning of the Hermit to be interpreted in whatever position (and context) the Wheel of Fortune appeared. (By the way, if you're dealing with Minor Arcana, and an Ace would be reversed, look to the King of that suit)

How do you dedice which "type" of reversal method to use?

Experiment is best I can advise you. Doesn't always work for everyone the same way. Trust your intuition and work with the different methods, and see which one works best. Or simply decide intuitively every time a reversal comes up.

Hope that helps some. There are possibly more methods out there for reading reversals, but that's the few I know of.

I read reversals and I look at it in 2 ways. If all cards come up reversed, they are showing me that the meanings need more attention. This person needs to pay more attention to what is going on around them. If it's a few, then I do look at it as things/issues the person needs to work on.

if you are a reader and you are using the reversal method in your reading, meaning the card is reversed to the reader not the seeker............... it means the opposite of the cards meaning.

Most readers use the cards as a tool to their source of higher knowledge, and that is why reverse cards aren't commonly used anymore. in the earlier days the positioning of the cards was taken more seriously.

what card was it?

look up the meaning of the card, in it's regular position and it's reversal position and look at the other 2 cards, and how they all relate to one another.
it's all the cards that make the reading, not just the one card that determines the reading, or outlook.

and the future is not written in stone, we have free will.

I do not use reversals unless one comes up inexplicable in a reading. Many people have many differing opinions about this one. On http://www.tarotamerica.com there are several experts who would love to voice there opinion on this one.

However, if I got a reversal in an outcome position, I would say to my client that there is some energy that is blocked that needs to be concentrated on in order to realize the full potential or to get the desired result.

You will have to decide how it affects you. The cards are to bring forth your talent and the talent of each person has its own path in readings.

When you can put the books away you begin reading true.
