Australia stretches from Hobart in Tasmania at about 41°S to Darwin and the tip of Cape York at about 10°S. Nearly half of the country is north of the Tropic of Capricorn. Northern Australia is warm all year round. The coldest month in the south is July but it can get really warm to hot in September anywhere. Sydney had the Olympic games in September because that is the driest time of the year in Sydney.

It is one of the hottest and driest countries in the world. I thought you lived here, Prada, so why ask such an obvious question (LOL)? It's mostly dry than humid, although the coastal cities are pretty humid. Climate of our capitals: SYDNEY: Our summers can get very hot, especially in the west (the inland). The city/coast rarely nears the 36 degrees mark, although in the west that is quite common. Summers in there tend to be the most wettest of all the year, though we still do get a lot of dry and sunny days. Some of the wet days can get a little cool with the temp going down to the early 20's. That's called a southerly change, in other words a cool change. MELBOURNE: As hot as Sydney, but can get some cold days too in the summer. That's why they call it a city with "four seasons in one day". Though, its summers are little dryer. It's a city of extremes, you can get a very hot weather and in the next week, a very cold one, in the summer. BRISBANE: The temp is always around 28-33 in the summer, rarely gets any higher or lower. Because the city is in the subtropics. So the temps remain steady and straightforward. Their summers are much wetter than Sydney's because, again, Brisbane's in the subtropics and it's close to those northern cities that have the "wet season". Unlike Sydney, days under 27 are quite rare, same thing for days over 33. PERTH: Hotter than the above, summers' average temp is 32. The summers can be almost rain-free. Perth has a Mediterranean climate, so that's expected. The city can get a lot of days over 35. It's quite hot and dry, no humidity at all. ADELAIDE: Same as the above, dry and sunny, although a little cooler. Adelaide has the same summer average temp as Sydney's western suburbs.

It is generally fairly pleasant during sunny days almost anywhere from late August on. Depending on where you are, the weather really starts to warm up in October. By mid November in say central Queensland it can be hot and steamy, or just hot while in Canberra the weather is merely warm. Middle of December, 40C days in Canberra, Sydney, just about anywhere from time to time.
