about when Adam and Eve were created, how god took a piece of Adams rib to make Eve, and how it symbolizes equlity of the sexes. Anyone know which verse this is?

No need for rudeness. I heard the story and was wondering if there was a verse in the bible about it. If I am wrong, so be it. Don't make me feel like an idiot...

I guess it was the way my pastor had explained it that made it symbolize equality. Something about the rib being in the middle of the body, not at the foot (meaning man is powerful over woman) and not at the skull (for the same reason, vice versa)

The story of God creating woman from Adam's rib is in Genesis 2. In 1 Corinthians 11:12&13 God refers back to this, explaining that because of this, we are not independent of each other. I guess it might symbolize equality too, but it doesn't exactly say that.

I hate it when people don't answer the question:
Here you go:
Genesis 2:20-25
So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.
But for Adam [a] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs [b] and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib [c] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman, [d] '
for she was taken out of man."
24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
They become one flesh...signifying they are equal (you can interpret it that way)
:)Hope this is what you were after.

The symbolizing equality part actually comes from the old Puritan commentary by Matthew Henry. About Genesis 2:21-25, he wrote: " 4. That the woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved."
That's where most pastors get this. From the commentary by Matthew Henry.

Genesis 2:18
The Lord God said, "it is not good for a man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
Genesis 2:21-24
So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man;s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. The the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of a man. "
There is no reference to equality of the sexes. Woman was created as a companion for man.
Or, as a joke I would say to one of my former pastors, God created man, saw the error of His way and then created woman. Enough said.

Genesis 1:21-24
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slpt; then He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh at that place. An the Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. And the man said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; She sall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
The Bible doesn't say they are equale, in fact.....
Ephesians 5:22-25
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself beigh the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. HUSBANDS, LOVE YOUR WIVES, JUST AS CHRIST ALSO LOVED THE CHURCH AND GAVE HIMSELF UP FOR HER.......
Verse 28,
SO HUSBANDS OUGHT ALSO TO LOVE THEIR OWN WIVES AS THEIR OWN BODIES. hE WHO LOVES HIS OWN WIFE LOVES HIMSELF.
So the wife is subjected to the husband, but he husband must treat the wife with respect and love, as Christ did the church. Its not a power trip, or to be used as a power trip. But the husband is the head of the house.

No, my bible says He made Eve as a help-meet for Adam. You won't find a verse that says otherwise.

well it is a made up story, cause I read bible, Holy Quran and holy book of Jewish. in those book it says that Adam and Eve was made from soil by god! and i think that's why we all turn into soil after we die.
