its just instinct. u'll kno they want to tho, if u notice of they are nervous or clumsy. its jast the golden rule: the girl makes the first move. i try not to think about it much, and just roll with what works.

A lot of guys are scared to make the first move because they are scared of rejection. They just need to start acting more mature and realize that rejection is a normal part of life.

Mostly it is lack of self confidence. Guys are scared of rejection and how it affects them psychologically. Instead of approaching a girl with an attitude of curiosity (let's see if she is funny, let's see if she is smart, let's see if she can carry a conversation), they approach seeking her approval. If she acts unfriendly then they take it as a sign that they as a guy are not attractive enough. That hurts, hence they don't approach in the first place. The key is a change of attitude. Don't let anyone judge you, if they are not friendly, polite, funny, intelligent, etc. move on to the next one without shame. There are more interesting girls out there, go find them, don't ever allow the boring/bitchy ones to put you down.

Rejection.
If he asks her out and she rejects him, they can never be the same again. It will be awkward and they probably wouldn't talk as much anymore.
Guys would rather be around and enjoy the company of the girl even if there is no progress, than risk losing not talking to her anymore if he did try to make a move and was rejected.

Some of them are AFRAID to experience rejection. Therefore, they hold out for the female to make the first move.

They fear rejection. With all my decades of experience, I can tell you without any doubt that everything you've heard about the fragility of the "male ego" is true. Generally speaking, women are far more resilient than men. That's why we become mothers and they don't.

Fear.
What if she says no?
What if she rejects me?
What if she laughs?
What if I go to kiss her and she pulls back?
This is all very serious to me.
Am I worthy? If she says 'yes' than I'm okay.
If she says 'no' then it means that I'm a loser.
Her opinion of me is more important than my own.
