If you do not see the fuel strainer (filter) on the engine wall hooked to the fuel inlet hose, there is a strainer in the tank. Tank fuel seperators only need cleaning when fuel pressures fall below a set amount. And a word of warning anytime I remove a pump fuel level sending unit I replace it with a new one. Not to say you cannot clean out the pump unit and get it all back in and running. What If the customer drives to a bad part of town and pump fails? At Nissan Mechanics have to think Big Picture and one year warranty. Called Maxima in the USA and we do not get all wheel drive.

I'm not positive, but I'm guessing it would be on the firewall.. The best thing to do, would be to look under the car, & find where the fuel lines come out of the gas tank.... follow them to the front & you'll probably find the fuel filter..there will probably be 3 or 4 lines... the fuel filter should be in the fattest one...

It's in the tank. Remove rear seat and you should see it. I HIGHLY recommend to replace it rather than clean it.
