i am not mormon and i can answer that for you
caffeine makes coffee addictive.
i also can say coffee isnt bad.
but then again, i am not a mormon.

I am not a Mormon, but it's not just coffee that they can't drink. It's anything that has caffeine, which is what is addictive about coffee. Caffeine is actually a drug, that if used too much, can become very addictive and cause withdrawls.
It's actually better for you to stay away from caffeine altogether which means no soda, coffee, or tea.

Caffeine - or any addictive substance for that matter. We want our bodies, though imperfect, to be as pure as possible and not dependent on/addicted to anything in this world (air, water, food doesn't count). ;)
Yes, you may then say - well what about chocolate, you still consume lots of that!? True, we need to be careful of anything that has addictive substances. But with our faith - some of you may not know this - it IS all about your right to choose for yourself. You will not be kicked out of the church if you drink caffeinated beverages, or decaf. coffee - But you do need to follow the rules to keep your covenants (promises) to God.

I'm not a Mormon, but I'm pretty sure it's the caffeine. If you're a regular coffee/morning caffeine drinker, try going without it one day. You get a headache that can only be taken care of with caffeine.

The caffeine makes it physically and mentally addictive. Mormons are just weird, though. I don't know why they're like that.

The caffeine is bad, and it stains your teeth. Studies have shown it has a negative impact on High Blood Pressure. It hurts recovery sleep (if you're drinking it to stay awake)...
