MY BOYFRIEND AND I WERE AT A FRIEND'S HOUSE AND WE STARTED TALKING ABOUT WOMEN WHO SHOP TOO MUCH. MY B/F MADE THE COMMENT THAT DURING THE TIME HE WAS MARRIED(HE'S BEEN DIVORCED FOR 10YRS.)HE TOLD HIS WIFE THAT SHE WAS ONLY ALLOWED TO BUY ONE OUTFIT A MONTH!!! SHE WORKS IN THE REAL ESTATE BUSINESS AND HE IS RETIRED MILITARY,THEY HAVE ONE CHILD TOGETHER.HIS REASON FOR TELLING HER THAT IS BECAUSE SHE ALREADY HAS TOO MANY CLOTHES.I TOLD HIM THAT NO MAN WILL EVER BE ABLE TO TELL ME WHAT I CAN AND CANNOT BUY WITH MY MONEY,ESPECIALLY WHEN THE BILLS ARE PAID AND MY CHILDREN ARE TAKEN CARE OF!! NEEDLESS TO SAY,HE GOT VERY ANGRY WITH ME SAYING "the truth is finally coming out" AND I TOLD HIM THAT I WILL NEVER BE SUBMISSIVE TO HIM OR ANYBODY ELSE. DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE DO NOT LIVE TOGETHER OR PLAN ON LIVING TOGETHER WHY DID HE GET SO ANGRY OVER SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EVEN PERTAIN TO US? WE CHOOSE TO LIVE SEPARATE BECAUSE WE NEED OUR SPACE,SO NOW HE IS NOT TALKING TO ME.AM I IN THE WRONG?

no you are not --- he is trying to control your life like he did with his EX wife --- perhaps you would be better to look for someone less controlling and more in tune with your needs ---- best wishes

Ex military tells a lot. He is spent his life taking and giving orders and expects that is how his life will always be. He sees himself as your superior and therefore expects you to do what he says.Military men unfortunately see themselves as the dominant person in any relationship He was probaly brought up in a family where his mother was a submissive wife. It is what he expects out of life.
You are not in the wrong he is , he will either adapt and except that your a strong independant women who is equal to him or he will lose you.
Good luck, its his responsibility to apologise to you and admit he is wrong, dont give in .
