he should learn his lesson. He got himself into the mess, he needs to own up to being such an a.. as to swing like that.
options...
1. Tell the girls what he has been doing. call it off with the one he likes least and beg for the other ones forgivness,
2. Dont tell them. let them find out on their own, get a bad rep for being a jerk, never get another date in his town, and have two women seek revenge upon him.
Id pick #1.
Note: if he breaks up with one of them, she stands a greater chance of running into girl #2, (because of calling excessively for a while and finding him and telling him off in public) and they two girls might have a mutual friend that could inadvertantley pass that they are both dating the same guy.

Why should dating need to be monogamous? Unless he's married, I don't see the problem. In fact, I think more young people should date several people instead of going through the "serial fixations" that seem so prevalent.

Well, you said "dating." You didn't say if he was serious with them.. it's okay for people to date around. They're probably not BOTH his girlfriend..
My cousin dates a lot of guys. Meaning she goes out with a couple of different ones but hasn't really settled down and found one that she really likes.
