I appreciate & support our troops 100%!! So, i don't want you all to get the wrong idea by what i'm about to say. It's simply an opinion!
Okay, i don't understand how America is against gang violance & killing but then again they have our troops fighting & killing for our freedom! Like, if you really think about it Iraq is one gang & America is another gang fighting for what is ours, right? I'm not really sure how to explain what i'm trying to say but i'm trying! Lol. Anyway, so don't you all think America is being hypictricical because shouldn't they be SHOWING us that violance is not that anwser & gangs are bad rather then initiating it??
I really tried to explain it best i can, but i'm not sure if it's coming out right! Lol. whatever.
btw sorry about my spelling!!

yes, i understand that gangs do things just for the heck of it .. but don't they teach our kids in school that if someone wants to hurt you or starts trouble with you to ignore it and resolve it in a better manor? & don't they say that violance isn't the answer? What do you tell your kids when they ask why theres a war? "Oh, they are trying to destroy our country & take away our freedom so we are over there killing and fighting them so that they wont"? Doesn't this make them think its OKAY??

There is a HUGE difference between the US Military and a gang. For starters; a gang will kill someone because they are wearing the wrong color, are in the wrong neighborhood or because you stole their girl, their drugs or both. Hardly a national emergency. These people are caught up in illegal activity and cause mayhem in society instead of being productive members. Now, the US Military is structured on discipline, a strict moral and ethical code and have to answer for their actions to a court of law. Their use and actions are sanctioned by none other than our Government and they cannot be utilized without Presidential and congressional authority. They are used to protect US citizens and our way of life from people who want to see our freedoms disappear in favor of their ideal society. Let's say someone broke into your home and was intent on harming you or your family; what would you do? Let them? Or do you protect your home and your family? You would, I hope, do what you could to see that no harm came to them. That's called, "self-defense". A gang, on the other hand, would probably be the one breaking into your home and is in no way acting in accordance with the law when they use force to enter or harm you or your family. They would be punished because they were acting in a way that intended harm; not in a way that demonstrated self defense. America is our home, the Government it's keeper. They use the Military, lawfully, to keep us safe and defend our nation.
EDIT to answer the more details portion.
I think you're missing the point. You have to understand that there is a difference between BEING the aggressor and defending yourself AGAINST the aggressor. And to reduce a full scale war to the equivalent of a school yard bully is just ridiculous. It's no where close to the same things. Of course you wouldn't go into detail about killing people and all the destruction and gross detail that soldiers experience when you're trying to explain to a child, what, exactly, a war is fought for. You leave it as simple as possible because they are in no position to comprehend national security or the politics that go into voting for or against a war or what it could cost NOT to defend ourselves. At some point along the way the child grows up and becomes an adult and realizes that the world isn't simply black and white and there are people out there that cannot be dealt with by ignoring them. Unfortunately, they don't go away; they become more bold and you're forced to make a decision to either stand up for yourself or not. If your child was being kidnapped wouldn't you encourage them to do WHATEVER was necessary to get away; even if it meant they had to hurt the person by scratching them or biting them? Of course you would! Your childs safety is more important than trying to rationalize or ignore a psychotic person...because that just wouldn't work. Kids might be taught to deal with the "every day" bully on the block by the ignoring them or talking things out with them. But, they also need to know the difference between someone who just isn't nice and someone who could do them real harm. And then they need to know that it's okay to defend themselves if they feel they are in a life threatening situation.

What you are caught in is the problem of moral equivelency. The idea that the same act has the same value regardless of the motives or goals.
All fighting in groups is not equal, any more than all eating is equal. If I give you poison it is not equal to giving you caviar, or equal to giving you eggs and bacon.
If someone has tried to kill our President, has tried to invade our ally (Kuwait), paid suicide bombers to kill women and children in Israel, attacked our troops during the decade long cease-fire, it isn't exactly morally equivalent to wandering a neighborhood doing drive by shootings if we decide to end their political career (like we did with Saddam).
They are only the same to those who are unaware of the reasons or the causes.

Try equating the US troops to law enforcement and the radical Islamics who have been attacking us for 30 years to the Gangs & it will make more sense

OK first of all, you have ALL your facts wrong. the gang violance is a totally different story, dont even try them to compare them to the war in iraq. and iraq isnt close to a gang, iraq is more of a snake, we need to stomp on their heads before they strike again. just get ur facts straight

I will try to explain this to you, gangs sell drugs, rob people, steal things, etc. This is criminal behavior. The U.S. was attacked, when a nation is attacked it uses its military to attack back and stop the other nation. The U.S. military is not a gang it does not rob, steal, murder. Any Military personnel caught in any of these acts are prosecuted to the extent of military law.
And you might try spell check

No, Why have a army if you do not expect them to defend or prevent violence?
Rules for our own nation is different. Gang violence has no cause. They are not fighting to keep the nation free, they are hurting our nation.

Gangs fight over petty things like what colors you wear, who has the most hoe's, and who's on who's "turf". Countries fight for global stability and sovereignty. There is a HUGE difference.

I think you're saying that the US is against gangs because of violence, and that's where the confusion is. The US isn't against violence; it's against unlawful violence. The US is not a pacifist nation that believes all violence is wrong. It believes some forms of violence are sanctioned by law, such as military and law enforcement.
