Tomorrow will be my last "day" of summer to spend with my 20 month old daughter before I go back to teach...dad works evening, so he will be home with her while I work, but I can't help feeling guilty. It seems this summer has gone by sooo fast and she has grown up sooo much. I'm looking for quick (cheap would be great too) ideas of things we can do together tomorrow as one last big blowout. PLEASE no guilt trips of being a stay at home mommy....my husband is in school and I swear we are working on it!!

A "special" trip isn't necessary, because she won't really remember it. What she will remember is that her mommy tries to make each moment with her count. I would either just take a picnic to the park, or splash around in the kiddie pool in the backyard. Don't feel guilty about working. I've been a working mom and a stay at home mom and there is guilt in both circumstances if you allow yourself to fall for it. Just remember the things you do you are doing for her, for her future...and for you...use your time away from home to fulfill your needs as well. You aren't a bad mom if you think of the things you need, in fact, you make a better mom when you are a more well rounded person. During the school year, make the most of your weekends, and set aside special time in the evenings for her, even if its only 15 minutes to read her a story. You'll both feel good about it, and those are the moments she'll remember as she grows up.

Try packing a picnic, then taking it to a nearby park with a playground. She'll love it & it's free!

Also, you can try a trip to the beach or a nearby zoo, depending on where you live.

I don't see why anyone should give you a guilt-trip about staying at home with her. As it is, your husband is with her during the day and you at night. Sounds like a great plan to me.

You should let her pick. Maybe throw out suggestions, and when she chooses one you can act like it is her idea. Playplaces are good, or you could could spend the whole day together and do crafts, picnics, etc. I look for some magazine or something (in NC we have one called Carolina Parent) they always have great suggestions for activities. Or at my library there is a Kidsville News magazine, which usually has good activities in it. Have fun.

What about the beach and have a little cookout? Although unless friends/family came along a cookout with a 2 yr old is hard. Or swimming at a local lake/park with a swingset/playground.

Or see what is going on at your local library - they always have stuff going on at mine.

and all else fails - chucky cheese. It will tire her out and she will have a ton of fun.

have fun :)

Spend time outdoors, take pictures together (because they change so quick!) eat fruit, enjoy the day!
