Atheists on this "religious" chat board obviously have an affinity for religion and we are glad to have them if they will just listen to our point of view sometimes.

After reading some of your statements I realize that there a lot of you out there, but you are not all like this Deke guy. He is everywhere and he is a persistant god attacker. He looks like he is crying for help

Reason one: To help those who are questioning their own belief in God and give them something else to think about than the one-sided religious indoctrination they would get here otherwise.
Reason two: Doubting or denying the existence of God is by definition a religious viewpoint as equally valid as any other including fundamentalist Christianity.
Reason three: Religious people on here and elsewhere, especially fundamentalist evangelical Christians, attempt to force their religion upon all of American society by controlling our laws, changing our precious Constitution to reflect their own views and enhance their power, and dictating that their own religion should be taught in our schools (admit it, "intelligent design" aka creationism, is a religious doctrine no matter how you look at it). Citizens who believe in the American ideal of freedom, including freedom of religion, have a responsibility to speak up and prevent their beloved nation from becoming more of a theocracy than a democracy.
Besides, many atheists and agnostics enjoy intellectual discussion and despite the rantings of closed minded people on both sides of the issue, such discussions can on occassion be found even on R&S.

Because the people here get annoyed when you talk about cats.
This board is the place to ask questions about God, including philosophical disproof. This is neither religious nor a chat forum. No one is obligated to read anything. Perhaps you need to review the Community Guidelines including "Don't #1".

The Atheist I know personally do not talk about God or religion at all and I respect them enough not to try to convert them,I believe in more than one god. I think that the people that are on the board are seekers, just try to be nice to them, show them some love and understanding. One way to get through to someone is though kindness.
(Many blessings)

Perhaps because this is a board for questions and answers about religion and spirituality?
One does not need to be god believers to answer or question things that are religious or spirituality in nature.
No, you do not need to revile any particular god to be atheist, all one has to do is not have any beliefs in god/s.
Are you ready to join?

Can you cite any real examples of where atheists here have reviled "God"? I think you're making it up. Atheists here criticize religion (especially organized religion) and dogmatic self-righteous religious people, but not "God". God is a myth. Do you revile Zeus?

Yes, we're really atheists. We're not against god, we're against people thinking that they're right beyond a doubt based on an ancient text. We do not have rituals. We are simply a group of people who share a disbelief in gods or goddesses. Nothing else connects us.

Because there are a few fundamental Christians/Muslims out there that make us look bad.
The God that I believe in, loves an atheist or a believer, as we're all the same in my belief.

Why do theists talk about atheists all the time?
Railing on rational beliefs has a way of galvanizing ignorance....
