I am so sorry this happened to you and your dog. I hope you don't need this advice, and your dog recovers, but I personally lean towards cremation. I have buried a few pets, and cremated a few. When I had to move, I wound up leaving animals I loved, but buried, behind, and had nowhere to sit and mourn over them or reflect on the good times we had. The ones I cremated are still with me, and I can feel a little closer to them when the pain of their loss gets a bit rough. I truly hope you dont have to make this decisoon soon. Best of luck.

Your vet can help you with disposal of the remains.
Some areas don't allow you to bury your dog in the yard, only at designed pet cemetaries. Yes, you can cremate a dog. My aunt did.
I would think its hard for a dog to get into a house rat trap-- but if you mean one of those rat poison releasers, yes they can be dangerous. Generally rat poison can be treated with IV vitamin K. Please keep in touch with your vet and see what can be done, although once kidney and liver begin to fail, that's pretty serious.
I am very sorry. My old dog had to be put to sleep at the vet's and we never saw her body after that.

First thing I would do is to get her back to the vet immediately. I'm not sure why your vet didn't run any tests to find out what, if any, posions she could have gotten into. And I don't know of any vet that wouldn't try to treat her for what could be causing her to be so sick. Did they treat her at all at the vets? If they did and there is nothing left that they can do, why aren't you humanely getting her euthanized? If she can't be fixed then please don't let her suffer.
And if you are faced with losing her, you can either have her creamated and have her ashes put in an Urn. Of you can choose to bury her somewhere of your choice.

Thank you for the addtional information. That helped make it clearer with what you said. I had thought you had taken her home and the vet did nothing to treat her.

Take the dog to the vet asap. As for what to do with a deceased dog, it varies. You need to call the city or town administrators where you live and ask them. Most places let you cremate your pet but only let you bury it in places like pet cemetaries unless you live in a rural community.

I am so sorry, I know what it feels like to have a sick dog. If she passes, just do what makes you feel right. Don't you have a backyard? Bury her there.
Or if you take her to the vet, I think they will take her but I think they charge for it.
Anyway, my best to you. Don't feel guilty about what happened, did the vet say there was anything he could do?

I don't believe in cremation of anything. When I die, and when my pets die, I want to give back to the earth, and to do that, I bury my animals so that in death their bodies give life to the earth and help replenish the soil.
I'm sorry your dog is sick. If it did get into something like that, treatment only is successful in the first 24 hours, and since its been a week...
Just know that in death, your pet has a chance to give back to the earth.

It's been a week so things don't look good.. but she has also survived for the last week. It's hard to say. Did you take the things you found to the vet so that he can be made aware of what the problem might have been and treat it accordingly?

It could be a number of things, but as for what people do with their dogs...I work in a vet clinic and most people cremate and ask for the ashes back.

That's very sad, my condolences.
Your vet will be able to explore options with you in regards to cremation and burial.
In Australia, we can do either for a family pet. Burial is in a mass grave whereas Cremation allows you to keep the ashes and scatter them if you'd like.
Hope I helped

You should try to see what the vet thinks about your suspicions about your dog eating the oxygen absorber or rat poison. There may be something the vet can do. It sounds like he's really sick. I hope he is okay.
