Just recently i asked my parents for a puppy...my mom was ok with it but my dad said absolutly not. I wouldnt try begging...it just makes parents irritated, try making a presentation or something explaining why u want a dog, how u would take care of it and stuff like that. My dad is just to stubborn and it didnt work for me...maybe it will work for ur mom!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Is there a local dog shelter or humane society close to your home? If there is, volunteering there would be a great start. You need to show your mom that you are responsible enough to have a dog. You can also offer to walk neighborhood dogs to get some more money and the experience.

It would also be helpful to find some more information about the breed of dog you want and some general information about the health of dogs. Try to find a local dog trainer near your area, so that you can take your dog to obedience classes.

Basically you need to show your mom that you are responsible and that you are educated about dogs and know what you are talking about.

Even if you saved up money to buy a pet, they are a huge investment afterwards too. A puppy for example, after buying the puppy you have to buy it food regularly, take it to the vet to get its shots, take it to the vet when it is hurt or sick (Which is usually ALOT of money. My dog has to get his tooth pulled in a week and it is going to cost 400 dollars), and you have to take time from your own life to train it and take it for walks so it stays active and healthy.

You should try to figure out why she doesn't want a dog. Try to talk to her seriously about it, and see if you can find a resolution to her objections. Whining will not do it. If she thinks you won't take care of it, for example, you can show her how you've saved your money for a year and offer to show her you are trustworthy by doing XYZ....maybe take care of the family cat, do certain chores, etc.

Good luck!

I would really listen to her until you're ready to move out on your own. She has her reasons for not wanting you to get a dog and those may include the fact that it takes a while to potty train him/her, things may get chewed up, and it might be loud with its barking/whining for a while until you get it properly trained. I'm currently in the process of training my new puppy and it's so much worse knowing that it might be annoying the family. Its more worth it to wait.

You should accept the fact your mother said NO. It is your mother's house and you have no choice but to follow the rules if you are going to live in her house.
If you can get her to change her mind, Dog Lover has some puppies and since she is such a great friend of yours why don't you get a puppy from her. They are only 5 weeks old so she should still have four of them unless she killed them all.

Why did you change your avatar from a dark skinned girl with dark hair to a light skinned girl with blonde hair? Do you think you are fooling anyone? Well, at least you were smart enough to make your Q&As private.
It became private after I answered.

I got 3 dogs and they are amazing. Go get one, if your mom sees that you could be responsible in taking care of the dog & if she sees how wonderful he/she is, she'll eventually love them too. Like my mother, now, she's the one taking care of them if I'm not around. :)
