History have proven that the American Indian are the original people here in our US of A’s even prior to the arrival of Christopher Columbus…My questions are simple. Why can’t we consider the Mexicans as the rightful citizens here in the USA since California, Texas, etc., ones belongs to the Mexico? Are we being racists?

It also belonged to mammoths. That doesn't mean they have the right to be citizens.

Thank you for equating a group of invading people to my ancestors (First Americans). I'm sure others like me appreciate it.

No. We are not racist. We have many legal Americans of Mexican ancestry. THOSE are citizens.

Those who evade the checks for serious contagious diseases, felony backgrounds, etc. are NOT my brothers and sisters, NOT citizens, no matter what race, period.

Forget history . . . people have been migrating and conquering for Millenia. Did the Native Americans get screwed? You betcha. But so did the Romans, Byzantines, Celts, Babylonians, etc. etc. etc. Powerful civilizations become powerful at the expense of weaker civilizations, and the human race benefits from the contest.

Read the treaty of Guadalupe. The USA BOUGHT California from Mexico for 15 Million dollars. The original offer was 30 Million, but the USA OBLITERATED Mexico during the Mexican-American War. The USA took Mexico's Capitol, and per the spoils of war, could easily have annexed the entire country. Instead, the USA actually had to CREATE a Mexican government to negotiate with, to end the war and buy California.

Based on how bad Mexico got crushed, I'd say that was a pretty generous offer, wouldn't you?

And besides, California is FAR better off as a part of the USA than Mexico; thanks to American influence it's one of the most prosperous places on earth. Even the Mexicans will concede that.

The original people here were.........nobody. American Indians are Immigrants just like everybody else, they just got here from Asia WAY earlier.
The US won much of the South West in a war that happened 50 years before my great Grandfather got here, and some how I get blamed for it, and am called Racist. My ancestors didn't come here to plunder the Red or Brown man. They came because they got tired of still being bought & sold with the land as Serfs in Eastern Europe about 30 years after the slaves were freed here. They applied for entry to a government that said it was legal to do so, and they came.

As far as giving the land back, some body had a war, there were winners & losers. I wasn't alive when it happened, and neither were any of todays Mexicans. Get over it.

Do you really want our SW states being run like a model of Mexico? Even the Mexicans here don't THAT'S WHY THEY CAME HERE!

California and Texas also once belonged to Spain and American Indians.Using your logic are we going to make all Spanish people citizens too? Also in your argument do they get to be citizens of states that never belonged to Mexico? And at one time we bought a large area of the U.S. from France and Russia should we allow them citizenship? This is not question of being racist it is simply what is legal. The Mexicans that are not being given citizenship are not born here so they are not part of the native American tribes. Also something to remember is that much of the land that is now America was bought from the Mexican government of the time. One of these was the Gadsden purchase bought in 1854 parts of south New Mexico and Arizona.

Wait .. wait ... wait ... now you are crossing the line. Texas and California are U.S. states. Let's not whitewash the fact that a serious crime is committed when they cross here illegally. It is not a good first step , with any country. We are more tolerant than most. There is a proper process to follow to get work permits/citizenship. I do not understand why that proces is so diffiuclt. But nonetheless, be assured that Texas and California have been and will remain U.S. states. Mexico is not prepared to go to war nor are all the illegal citizens. This kind of thinking would make me think that you are a risk to our national security. Maybe it's best that I do not comment on immigration questions .... I think I do not understand the issue well enough.

We do consider Mexican's rightful US Citizens when they go through the proper channels like every other immigrant to every other country.

Just a thought here... what makes you think that this was the rightful land of the "American Indian"? How far back in history can you go? Were there others living here perhaps that they came in and wiped out? Who is to say who was in any land and had rights to it first in any country? I'm not sure I remember it stated anywhere that GOD simply placed two people in each country boundry and told them to procreate.

Give up the argument of hundreds of years ago. Many people could make an argument for many countries. That fact is that boundaries are set and every country has laws with regards to immigrants and illegals. Time to live in 2007.

If they were indians, that would be one thing, but the idea that since the Mexican government once owned parts of Texas and California, therefore they will always own it doesn't make since. The Spanish were just as bad if not worse than an European in the north during colonization. They enslaved the Indians, killed most of the with diseases, and then imported huge amounts of Africans to take their places. In the world of 'rightful heirs,' Mexicans, those of spanish descent, would barely have claim over their own land let alone ours.

NATIVE AMERICAN'S immigrated as well.

At any rate, if "Mexicans" are "NATIVE" to this land, why do they come from south of the border? More importantly, why do they speak Spanish?

We're not being racist. The real Native Americans live on reserves. We're protecting our country. We don't owe these Mexicans anything - it's not our obligation to house them and pay for all their expenses, that is MEXICO's JOB!

California, Texas, and Arizona do not belong to Mexico. The whole "Aztlan" concept is a myth. Mexico lost the war against us - plain and simple. This is OUR land now.

Keep in mind, there are many members of the Minutemen and Border Patrol who are African-American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian, etc. The race card won't work any longer.

Well, if you want to look at it that way, you can say that the Mexicans seized their territory from the Aztecs, who took their land from the native population, who moved there from Asia. That's why the Mexican language is Spanish-based: because the Spaniards invaded Mexico in the 1500's.

No one can really claim rights to any country. Take, for example, all of Europe. Europe's borders changed with every new war for about five hundred years. France now owns parts of what used to be Italy. Turkeys owns parts of what was formerly Greece. Poland is made up of what used to be Prussia and Russia. Spain used to belong to the Muslims. However, you don't see anyone asking to give Spain back to the Muslims, or Alsaice-Lorraine back to Italy. Why? Because it's done with. Wars were fought; treaties were signed. People fight with each other over land. They've been doing it for thousands of years.

Now back to us. We fought Mexico in a war. We won. We signed a treaty that gave us California, Texas, etc. They are now legally ours. Because the US governs these parts of our country, it has the power to deny access to those who come here illegally. Just like Mexico has the right to prevent any illegals from entering Mexico. In fact, Mexico has very strict immigration laws, and almost immediately deports anyone who enters the country illegally. And it has a right to. It just so happens that not many people want to live in Mexico because it's run poorly and poverty-stricken.

The past is the past. The Mexicans beat the Aztecs, and the Americans beat the Mexicans. War's war. We're not racist. Get over it.

According to The Immigration Reform Now,

A Conservative Statement for Immigration states:

"According to the most recent Tarrance Group survey, 75% of likey GOP voters support immigration reform that combines increased border and workplace enforcement with a guest-worker system for newcomers and multiyear path to citzenship for illegal immigrants already here-provided that they meet certain requirements like living crime free, learning English and paying taxes," support for this plan," the poll found "is strong even among base Republicans voter demographics like strong Republicans(77%), very conservative Repulicans (72%) white conservative Chistians (76%), and those who listen to talk radio on a daily basis (72%)."

"Shows that you do not represent the mainstream of Republican Conservative politicics."

Strontium_9t You only know the history that you were spoon fed in school. There was a movement in the U.S. to take over all of Mexico in the U.S. Congress but the guerrilla war changed their minds.
Americans ( KIA) in the Mexican war 1,800 troops
Americans (KIA) in the guerrilla war in Occupation of Mexico, 4,600 troops
Americans captured and (MIA) presumed dead 2,800 troops
Total KIA 11,500 Troops (Same as Iraq)

America could not fight a guerrilla war then either!!

No one rightfully owns the land anywhere. The history of the world is full of conquest and barter regarding land. In order to own land as a general rule you must be able to defend that land from military conquest. If you cannot defend it, you do not truly own it. Extend this out to this thought. The citizens of the United States do not really own the land either. If we were to be defeated by a superior power then the United States would cease to exist as a country. The new occupiers would then hold the land until someone stronger displaced them. Mexico has no claim to the United States and it is not in any way racist to state this simple fact.
