Virtua fighter 2 for sega genesis is a joke 2-dimensional game, as opposed as the awesome 3-d game that inspired all 3-d games to date, at the time of it's arcade release it was a sight to behold, the 32x and saturn versions were very very close, but stay away from the genesis 2-d version..
Eternal champions has good graphics, but this is a TOUGH game to beat, as the computer is cheap, specially the last character (the eternal champion, you have to beat him about 5 times as he changes elements), I beat this game with EVERY single character, and it took many many MANY hours, my favorite character was R.A.X. the cyborx muay thai fighter, I could beat the game easily with him. The fatalities were cool, but VERY hard to pull off, you needed a certain amount of blood available, and your opponent had to land on the right spot. One thing I didn't like about this game is that the endings are not animated, but one thing I liked is that there's a "training" option where you can practice. I believe this was one of the first 24 meg. genesis games.
Street fighter 2 is just a classic game, excellent graphics (for the time anyway) and very charismatic characters, the replay value is very high, making this title a must for collectors as well as fighting fans. If you get the SUPER street fighter 2 it'd be even better, as it includes new fighters (Cammy, D-jay, T-hawk and Fei Long), as well as new moves, animations, and backgrounds, this was the only 40 meg. sega genesis title.
my vote: street fighter 2

It all depends on which type of fighting game you like.
If you like hand to hand combat without use of projectiles and other supernatural moves, go with Virtua Fighter.
Street Fighter 2 is an instant classic and would probably last you quite a while. Honestly, I would go with that, but...
Eternal Champions isn't that bad of a game either. Sure, the computer is cheap and the moves are somewhat of a ripoff from other games, the "fatalities" make up for it. I know when you hear the word "fatality," you probably thought of Mortal Kombat. These, on the other hand, are not your average fatalities. They are actually pretty cool and took some creativity from the programmers...unfortunately, they are definitely NOT easy to perform, but well worth it.
Even when all is said and done, I would stick with the old Street Fighter, just because thats what I grew up with...hope I helped you out a lil bit

I can't recommend VF2... It just isn't as fun as the other two. Street Fighter II is a classic that you can play over and over again. Even still, Eternal Champions is the best of this bunch. The characters are interesting, the fighting styles they use are legit, the overkills vary from cool to lame, and the computer cheats horribly giving a solid challenge - but the game is still beatable with any character. There is also a customizable danger room type-thing. You know, these games are incredibly cheap now. ...you might as well get all three.

Eternal Champions, each character has their own fighting style from Kapoeria to this cave man. Good fighting game with a rich storyline.

Most likely they'll be $60 each in stores because they're still fairly new games. Go to Best Buy, they have better deals than most stores. EBgames rips u off because I bought a used game from them for like $35 while the new price was $40. They're inFAMOUS for doing this often. Cheap bastards.
