Ah, Pascal's Wager, the Christian's "fool-proof" argument, and yet it supports the main reason why I will never accept the Christian God.

I refuse to worship a God that demands fear, one that will damn innocents merely because they will not stroke his ego. The God I believe in is not so petty.

If my ideals land me in "Hell," then so be it. I'd rather be amongst the rebels than in a kingdom ruled by a pompous Deity.

Do you have to criticize those who do not share your beliefs. You Christians claim to be sooo righteous and perfect yet you resort to insulting anyone who thinks differently from you. As a Pagan I do not believe in heaven or hell however I don't run around telling those who do believe oooh your wrong you won't be going to heaven because it doesn't exist. I feel there is room for everyone to have their own beliefs and opinions, and they need not be criticized for it. Unless people are causing someone else harm by doing their own thing I say leave 'em be. I agree your worship is great for YOU that doesn't mean it works for me. I don't like being told how to live my life by Sunday "holy rollers" who look down their nose at me for how I conduct my life and yet the other 6 days of the week they are doing things a hell of alot worse than I would ever dream of. I am not saying that is what all Christians do however there are quite a few of them were I am from, so I quit the whole thing and discovered Wicca and I feel I am much better off. I am a better person now and I am also alot less judgmental than I used to be and it is directly related to the new path I am on. My family is happier than it has ever been so I can't really see how I am so wrong and I certainly don't see where I am being a fool. If you insist that anyone who doesn't share your beliefs are fools, then I think you should really sit down and consider you level of tolerance for others and I am sure you will find that there is room for improvement. Remember your God wants "spiritual fruits" not "religious nuts"

(Sipping Beer)

As everyone else will know, this is known as Pascal's Wager. It's a common presentation of a reason to believe.

The problem is that you are making the same wager, for consider the possibility that you believe in the Christian God, but in fact it is the Muslim interpretation of God that is the real one. Or the Baha'i. Or Hindus. Or the Native American Spiritualists. Or the Wiccans. Etc.

If any one of these Gods or religions has the truth, and Not Christianity, you are wasting your life following the wrong religion. And followers of every one of those faiths believes that you have made the wrong choice, with just as much fervor as you feel THEY have made the wrong choice.

So you see, there's no winning this game. Maybe someone is right. Maybe no one is right. There's not enough information to choose. So I've decided to let the decision go, and live my life the best I can, not for some later reward, but because I want the world to work the best it can. And for me, that's its own reward.

It would be foolish to believe based on preference. Just because you don't want it to be true is no reason to believe it isn't true. Similarly, it makes no sense to believe it is true because you want it to be true or fear the punishment if you think it's not true but it really is. In the end the standard should always be the same before believing something- not fear, not threats of punishment, not what everyone else believes, not what you want to be true, not what you feel in your gut is probably right. Rely on evidence. Since there's insufficient evidence to believe that any gods exist it is irrational to believe in gods.

they might't; because of the fact it somewhat is a clinical actuality they might the two settle for or reject it. case in point, no one is going around asserting they have faith or disbelieve in gravity. Edit: indoors fort: "Survival of the fittest" isn't the ultimate way think of approximately evolution. Darwin himself did not use the word interior the 1st version of foundation of Species. What Darwin pronounced is that heritable changes carry approximately differential reproductive fulfillment. it somewhat is not around or tautologous. it somewhat is a prediction which may well be, and has been, experimentally confirmed.

Are you really that dumb? You think just because you waste your life believing in fairy tales that somehow you will exist after you die. Wake up and start living your life based on reality; it is much more satisfying.

You have it backwards, you are like a five year old insisting they are right even though they have NO proof about or education in the subject of discussion.

Been on vacation to hell and visited with the intellectuals have you?

Your soul for an absurd belief which distracts you from your life and the here and now? Blinding you from far deeper truths? Jackass chasing the carrot in front of his nose? Smell like a scam? A two bit infomercial: be a slave to my ideology in this life and I promise the next [unconfirmed] one will be better!

ROTFLMAO!
