I just got my braces tightened and I got a chain on my rubber bands [[all the bands are connected now]]. I also wear headgear and I had to tighten that too... I only have 4 brackets, on the top in the middle

I already took 400 mg of aspirin but they still hurt really badly.. any ideas to make them stop hurting?

I feel your pain i hateeee braces. The best thing is dont talk or even slightly open your mouth, thats what I do and I dont feel it after a while. All I take is 2 tylenol when I come home. Try to take a nap, drink drinks with a straw to help keep your mouth closed, and when you eat eat soup chicken noodle soup is my best friend when I get them tightened.

Switch from Aspirin to an Ibuprofen product like Advil. Ibuprofen also reduces swelling thus helping to further alleviate the pain. You can take 400mg to 600mg every 6 hours. Over the counter Ibuprofen (Advil) only come in 200mg.

Good Luck

Try holding a wash-cloth-covered-ice-pack to your cheek to help numb your gums. Eating a milkshake or other cold item could also help numb your gums. Just don't hold the ice-pack there for too long.
