Hey Leon, congrats for being gutsy enough to want to tackle the car. Most of this will be trial and error so be careful but enjoy the experience. If you have never rebuilt and engine I suggest this, take it to a school or college where they have an auto shop. Many schools are glad to use these cars for class and maybe you can join in to understand it also.
If that doesn't work, and the motor has been apart for a while I would take it to a machine shop and checked for cracks in the block. Also you want everything very clean when you assemble it, so no rust on parts. There are a lot of restoration books on Mustangs so check your local book store or amazon.com for books about Mustangs. Thats the best place to start. Also check to make sure what year the block really is before you start, there should be a plate or stamp on the block to tell you that.
Enjoy the journey. I've been working with classic 60's Fords since I was 17 and that was YEARS ago.

As long as it is out--take it to the engine shop and they will rebuild and assemble it back to original condition--plus labor and parts. Engines are heavy -- how ya gona lift it back into the car??? Put the tranny on before you insert engine...Instructions and directions car repair manual for dummies does not exhist. You need to purchase tool and have the car in a garage.
One other suggestion -- take the car to a Mustang shop and have the car completely restored to original condition. Then all you have to do is pay and drive it away

First of all why he stripped the engine. There could have been some problems. Are all parts, bolts and nuts there?.
Check the pistons, rings, bearings, crankshaft for any visible damage.
Now have u found the place to buy required spares.
To save u time and money, please get a 2nd hand engine from a salvage yard or wreck yards and install.
Choice is yours.

all motors go together the same ..i would recommend buying a Chilton repair for your car it comes in real handy also most craft stores sell models of motors that you can put together and watch the moving parts move...it;'s clear it is the best thing you can give to someone who wants to know how a motor works...good luck and have fun

odds are if the engine is torn apart there is reasoning behind it. most likely will need more than just reassembly which if you have never done bring it to an engine shop. it is easy to mess up and wind up potentially destroying the engine and winding up stranded.

to be honest with you on that one you,d be better of with a good repair manual it will have all the small details in it that you,ll need on getting it back together, there's a lot of work ahead of you on this one ,but it should be a nice one when you get done with it,good luck on it.
