The Chinese have lived on vegetables for years and years I'm sure you won't have any problems. I am a light vegetarian and have no problem in China.

Plus now more vegetables are available throughout the year than used to be. It used to be that you would only be able to eat "bak choi" and potatoes during the winter months.

Food-wise it's not a problem for you to survive in Tianjin but have you ever been there? It's a terrible terrible city, it feels like a huge village with several million inhabitants. For a foreigner there is pretty much nothing to do. The best thing about Tianjin is that it is so close to Beijing. Right now it takes about 1.5 hours by car but in the future there will be the speed train which will bring you from Tianjin to Beijing (or the other way around) in 30 minutes. It's supposed to be opened in 2008, just in time for the Olympics.

There are lots of vegetable dishes in Tianjin. No problem, but I am sorry that you cannot eat fish.
