I stopped lamictal cold turkey because of bad migraines as a side effect. I am experiencing ringing in my ears and it has been 2 weeks since I stopped. anybody experienced this? is this a withdrawal symtom?

You should never quit any medication all at once. It took me three months to get off of Neurontin (I was on a high dose) and another month to get off Lamictal.

I complained about ringing in my ears and my pdoc said all psychotropic drugs can cause tinnitus.

I'm still on two meds and my ears still ring -- but not as loudly.

I have been taking lamictal for 4 years now. I discontinued it and it put me in the hospital but I never experienced ringing in the ears. I know it should not be stopped suddenly due to a risk of having seizures. The ringing have to do with the migranes. I would see a Dr. but I do know that mine told me never to stop cold turkey, it could be very dangerous. But it sounds like you have been ok since it is 2 weeks later. Are you taking new meds for the migranes ? Maybe it is that? I know vicodin gives me a ringing in the ears

Lamictal is an anti-seizure med. I have no idea why they prescribe it for Bipolar since there is no proof of efficacy.
