Anyone know a good rooftop place open to the public where one can get a good view of the L.A skylines?

Go to the Griffith Observatory in Hollywood, it's about 1200 feet up, and the views of the skyline are great. You have to go on a clear day though, or won't be able to see anything. You have to take a shuttle to get there, you can catch the one at the Greek Theatre(free), or at Hollywood & Highland. The observatory has free admission, and the planetarium show is only $7.00. Hope this helps

There's a bar in Downtown called "The Standard" I believe. It's located on the top floor of a bldg. with a great view of the downtown LA area.
