so frequently, think that you can make trade with God...so you forgive in order to get God's mercy.
Such God would be too naive, isn't it?

I only do that in the event of certain prayers. For instance, on the back of my St. Joseph prayer card it says to ask a favor of God and then complete the prayer. Other than that, I ask for nothing. I just pray.

God does not make trades with anyone,if you truely believe in him he will automatically know your needs and answer them.We are to live our lives in a Christ like manner, there for forgiveness should come naturally as well as your love for for others. My God is nowhere near naive. He is far beyond all that we could imagine.Love the Lord.God Bless You

Good point.
I forgive, not in order to obtain mercy, but for the following reasons:
1. Because I have been forgiven, and am very conscious of it. That has taught me to be forgive.
2. To be free of bitterness, which only hurts me, not the person I am bitter against.
The New Testament teaching implies that a person who does not forgive probably has never known what it is to be forgiven by God. That is, he has never really recognized his need to be forgiveness, and has never truly accepted that forgiveness.

For we are all the children of GOD and we ask from him in the same manor a child ask of his parents. As I will eat my vegetables if I can stay up another hour, or if you let me go to their house I will do my homework. Though these are weak negotiations they still work, for the parents love the child, and the FATHER loves his children. And we all need our FATHER's approval. And of who else can we negotiate or receive their blessings?

Yes, such a God would indeed be too naive - if God actually existed!

I think it is more of a human being's instict, something for something.

So its instinct to say "god ill never do this again if I live"

or something to that extent

I think it all relates to simply treating others as you would want to be treated. I don't think of it as a bargain or trade, just a sign of respect for others. Peace.

I think understands what he is doing and if he didn't we wouldn't be here. Trust in God and he will set your spirit free.

He isn't naive... and he know each and every heart... So he will know if u "forgive" just to get something out of it....like Mercy! So, some may do it to get something...but, if he gives mercy...it's out of his Awesomeness...not because he got dooped!!! I hope I helped or made sense!
