Breeding plant species and creating hybrids. Breeding animal species and creating hybrids. Vaccines. And saying Evolution doesn't exist because it is just a theory is like saying Gravity doesn't exist because it is just a theory. They are both, widely accepted in the scientific community, our current knowledge depends on such theories and they are both wholly demonstratable using simple experiments, and basic empirical observation. Really the only excuse for not believing in evolution is that you believe anything your pastor tells you and don't really have a head for science. Sorry to the voter downers, the truth burns, doesn't it? By the way, the guy above me... Legend! best answer for sure.

Micheal-what choice did these men have?

If (I am not suggesting they really were) they were atheists do you think they would admit it? They would have been put to death. Gallileo as a christian hypothesised that the earth went around the sun and was locked in his house for life, he didn't even suggest god didn't exist. They lived in a time where the was no choice but god. You may notice that almost all scientists today are atheist/agnostic, some are deists and almost none believe in any form of personal god.

There have been great advances in weather forecasting, now that we know that lightning is caused by God's will. ( "Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth" (Job 37:2-3).)

We've also learned that refracted light is only a reminder to God so he doesn't kill humanity. ("I do set my bow in the cloud; and it shall be a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between you and me and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh" (Genesis 9:13-15). )

Finally, there have been great advances in human reproduction because we now know that infertility is caused by being unfaithful! ("But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. . . . For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife" (Genesis 20:3, 18).)
