For Hi Def TV shows you need a box for the Hi Def stations....
Without it, all you get is LOW DEF.....

Your TV set is Hi Def.....Use the Component or HDMI connection for HD....the tuner is not going to get HD from a box, only the two listed above....

The Cable boxes are DESIGNED to only output HD signals on the Video lines, not the RF outputs.

Set top box is required for a monitor which does not have a built-in tuner. The TV you described has both analog and digital tuner so you shouldn't need anything additional.

definite a HD Tuner will assist you to view HDTV channels yet you WONT receive the conventional of HD image or sound it's going to be of a SD high quality because of the fact analogue TVs dont have the pixel scores that LCDs or Plasmas do. Its all with regard to the pixel score on your television show screen.

Since you have both digital & analog tuners, you won't need a set top box, but you will need to order the HD signal from your cable Co., with no set top box.

Not all HDTVs have a built in HD tuner. Yours has a digital tuner, but that's not necessarily the same as an HD tuner.

A digital tuner does Not necessarily mean a HD tuner, otherwise the it would say "HD tuner built in" right on the box.
