Excel is a spreadsheet program with the capability of creating and editing graphs and other graphics, as well as programming.

I use it to keep track of finances, to perform large calculations, to chart data, and I also write macros to help automate parts of my job.

It's a spreadsheet program.
You can plug in data - Like dates in one column and number of sodas consumed in the next - then select the area and graph it.

You can take two columns of numbers and create a thrid column whose rows are the products of the first & second columns

You can input data down one column and show the sum of all the data in the next cell at the top.

All sorts of stuff.
We use it for TimeSheets, Calculating Lever Arms, Inventorying and relabelling MP3s - all sorts of things...

excel is a spread sheet. it is for calculations. it is used for many things from simple mathematics to complexed mathematics, it can also be used for data base work,,,, spread sheets are use in many areas of business,

you could start to use one by making a simple shopping list and get it to add up your total shopping bill.

now here is the thing... if you learn to use a spread sheet, it would be very handy when you apply for a job,.... there are free tutorials on the web if you do a websearch
