I have never been to Brooklyn, and would like to know which tourist attractions are most worth seeing on me upcoming vacation. I will have one week to see the city.

People are different and what's worth seeing depends on what YOU like, not some absolute value. Popular attractions include:
-- Coney Island
-- NY Aquarium at Coney Island
-- Brooklyn Bridge
-- NYC Transit Museum
-- Brooklyn Museum (art)
-- Prospect Park
-- Grand Army Plaza/Brooklyn Public Library
-- Red Hook (great sunset views from the water taxi dock/ Fairway patio)
But there's also a lot to be said for simply walking around a neighborhood that interests you, looking at its houses, visiting its shops and restaurants spontaneously, seeing what life is like *off* the tour bus route. Depending on what you're interested in...hipsters? Hasidim? urban fashion trends? brownstones? you might pick diffferent 'hoods to check out, but we can't advise you here without any clue of what you like.
Oh, and someone above was confused, the Mets play in Queens. There's great baseball at Coney Island, but it's minor league.

The Brooklyn Promenade at Brooklyn Heights. Also the Botanical Gardens and Coney Island.

thinking of brooklyn as an interesting choice, right?
im so proud of you..ok
well theres a lot to do here.
its not as crowded as manhattan because not many tourists come here, its just us locals do evryday stuff.
walk around the neighborhoods, every neighborhood has a different feel and style. brooklyn is very diverse.
my favorites are coney island, park slope, bensonhurst, and red hook
