I am an atheist. I didn't just randomly tell this kid I was an atheist. He asked me what I believed in and I told him I was an atheist. He then went on to say that the only reason I am an atheist is because I want to live an ungodly, immoral, sinful lifestyle. I told him that wasn't true. He said "OK, well if you found out God existed, would you change your lifestyle?." I told him that if I found out God existed that I would turn into a Bible thumpin, holy rollin, Jesus freak. He then went off about how I am sinful creature and that he would never talk to me again. I told him I would change for God, why would that make him mad?????

Basically he isn't a real born again Christian. If he was he would have shown you love and been a better witness to you. I am sorry that happened. That was not Christ like in the least. I think he needs to get more to reading his Bible and less into turning people off of the faith. I think he may not even realize what he is saying and doing. Even the Devil believes. It is different if you are saved and follow Christ. You must have love for all especially the un believer. I can tell you the truth but if you don't see it in me then what is the point.
PS I would be shocked if talking about God's love didn't get a thumbs down. If I didn't I would basically think I must have said something wrong. By the way I was born in a Christian home and at 40 I was born again. Two different things. Evita

atheist does not mean has no morals... morals & religion are two very different things, although a lot of conservative christians might disagree... some (I said some, not all) Christians think that anything that doesn't fit into their beliefs is immoral. My boyfriend is an atheist, that doesn't mean he thinks it's ok to kill, rape, steal etc. as far as why he got upset when you said you would change if the existance of god were proven to you... I didn't hear the tone you said it in, but is it possible he thought you were being sarcastic?

The reason that Christians have an intense hatred of atheism (not atheists) is that it is a spiritual notion that directly harms themselves, their loved ones their friends and unleashes evil into the world. If God created free will so that you could freely return love to him, then to deny God is a destructive act. The kid felt this emotion but could not express it. I'm sure you spoke to him in a way that made him feel you were mocking (Atheist love to do that).

They get mad a similar reason as non-christians get mad. we are all plagued via an over inflated ego of consistently wanting to win and consistently wanting to be ideal... once you are trying a Christian via proving him/her incorrect... you're quite doing christ's artwork, you are trying their persistence to help them build greater persistence, you're shaking their faith which will demonstrate in the event that they're extremely truthful or they're merely doing a tutor... of course as with each and every physique, Christians will fail too, and with God's help they are going to %. themselves up and look at out back.... I recommend... if the wisest guy in the international, Solomon might desire to be tricked and lured right into a capture, what greater something human beings... we can all fail a minimum of as quickly as, yet failure means persevering for the subsequent try.

First of all, people who use arguments to present the word of God are just not much of a Christian. God is a God of love and he loves you whether or not you love him or not. He has never and never will forsake you. All he asks is for you to believe in him and live your life as he directs in the Bible. A good example for you to understand would be a man named Kirk Cameron. He starred in a television series several years back called "growing pains." Kirk was an atheist until one day driving down the road he became aware there was a God. You can goggle him and and hear his story. It's truly inspiring. You don't have to be a Bible thumping, holy rollin, Jesus Freak. All God ask is that we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. He does the rest by offering us eternal life and buckets full of love. We are all sinful creatures and that is why we ask forgiveness of our sins. This person is just not the right person to be witnessing to you about our Heavenly Father. Go to somebody like a minister who truly will spend time with you and tell you the plan of salvation. I don't think you're atheist at all, but just a little confused and off track right now. You know more about God and sin to be an atheist. Look deep into your heart, there is room for Christ. Just ask him in and truly believe it.

I think his point was that you said you did not live an ungodly, immoral, sinful lifestyle. But then you said you would change for God...implying that you are living an ungodly immoral sinful lifestyle.

It was the way you answered him. It sounds like you were mocking him even if that was not your intent. Your answer should have been as adult being reasonable in response to a personal question. By the way I am a christian and I respect your right to believe what you believe. Whether I am right or you are right does not allow either of us to mock the other.

I don't think you are any sinful than anyone else just because you call yourself a atheist. But let me say this: I am going to pray for you tonight and I pray that you will turn into a Bible thumpin, Holy Rollin, Jesus Freak! Listen God loves you so much he allowed Jesus Christ His Son to die for you!

people often ask things they don't really want an answer for. he wasn't ready for your honesty, and obviously knows nothing about atheists.
since he was already on the defensive he took your comment as sarcasm. it doesn't matter if that's what you intended or not.
when are people going to realize that religion doesn't make you a good person.
but on the bright side at least he didn't call you a devil worshipper.
