to the more appropriate "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Choir"?

The mormon church insists that for publicity in newspapers, etc, they are called by their full name "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints".

They're not very consistent, are they?

That name has been around for over 150 years. It remains the same, I suppose, due to name recognition. Its the same reason the Church does not seem to mind being nicknamed, "Mormons."

I don't know what you are on but you need to take a good long nap and get it out of your system. The tabernacle is a large silver domed edifice on Temple Square in Salt Lake City that seats about 5,000 people. The choir known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir used the Tabernacle for their performanced for many decades. The choir is composed of about 375 singers, all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), and is world famous for their inspirational music. Thus the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is a choir composed of Mormons that sings in the tabernacle. Now sober up and get your head straight.

Easy...not many people know who the nickname LDS.

The church is consistent with the difference between mormon and LDS.

Their official name is Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

There's a difference between members calling themselves Mormons and the choir using the more well known nickname and I can't find where the First Presidency talks about it, but I know they have.

The official name is the "Tabernacle Choir". No "Mormon" or name of the church in front of it.

You know what....I don't think the Mormon Tab was actually put on by the church officially..... I don't think they OWN it. Sure it's put on by Mormons and they always sing at conference, but....I really don't think that the church owns it. Besides why change a name? The Mormon Tab Choir is awesome as it is.

Sorry but why do you care? It's the Church's choir and that is what it has been called for over 100 years.

BTW, we sometimes call it "MoTab" since the name is long.

Yeah, because the name of a choir is going to take down the church!!!!!!

Tradition. They performed in the Tabernacle for years. What's your problem with the name?

Why does the Catholic church relocate pedophile priests instead of firing them?
