I created my own identity on the computer I share with my family about 2 weeks ago. I transferred all of my very important files over to my identity successfully. Soon after though, our computer malfunctioned and we had many problems, but still through that, my identity and files were still in working condition. I just came onto my identity after about 4 or 5 days and my desktop was empty and my important files were gone. I am extremely upset and I want to know if anyone knows what might have happened or how to retrieve my files!!!!!! I am desperate!!!!

Surely you remember some names of your documents. So click on Start>Search and insert the name of a document or type *.doc that is the instruction for searching all Word documents. Start the search and maybe if you find one, you'll find all.

But if you don't find your files, try to recovery them with this program: PC Inspector File Recovery 4.0. It's free and you can download it here:

Good luck.

If the document Winword.Exe is there, staggering-click on it and decide upon Create Shortcut. Check the recycle bin, if not there, the are gone. Similar thing happened to me when I got a new computer and I saved everything on a floppy disc. The disc didn't work right, and I lost all my improtant stuff.
