My Boyfriend has been gone all summer for Army Basic Training. I would like to get him a gift for when he returns.
-(we are both Christians......if you catch my drift) -

I thought about a watch? but what else?
I feel very pathetic but I'm hoping the great ppl on yahoo can help.
I'm trying to steer away from mix CD's and cards. He loves soccer and he loves our country {obviously :) }
We have known each other quite awhile but have only been going out for 4 months.
Also should I give the gift..whatever it ends up being, at his welcome home party- or some other time.

give him something you think he would like, and if that's a watch then get the watch. i wouldn't buy anything too expensive, unless you really want to.
when i got home from being out of town for a while, my boyfriend decorated my room with tons of balloons and streamers. the balloons were everywhere, i couldn't walk around. and he made a cut little sign that said welcome home on the door. it was really sweet... just to give you an idea.

You can put together a gift basket for him, with his favorite junk foods that they didn't have at basic training, DVDs of movies that came out while he was in camp, maybe some Sports Illustrated magazines or something that ties into the soccer, a photo of the two of you (consider playing with the photo to grow his military cut long, and maybe add a mustache or something else civilian), and some toys or other items that showed you spent the summer thinking of him...with some things for you to do together now that he's back, like gift cards for movie tickets, a picnic IOU, etc. He worked hard, and now it's play time!

He obviously loves his Country, so may be something patriotic, or may be a keychain with your picture on it? That way when he goes for bootcamp, or training, he can carry you with him where-ever he goes. :-) Give it to him whenever you feel the time is right. I wouldn't get him a watch because with him going into the Army, he may not get to wear it very often. Hope this helps.
