Because she doesnt have a friend to talk to. Telling you all her problems is not good for you and you need to tell her to stop. Encourage her to get counseling if she has no one else to talk to.

You must be a very good listener Kiki or else your mom doesn't have a lot of people that she trusts at present in her life. If you are feeling overly stressed with all your mothers problems then be honest with her and let her know that you can't handle any more right now as you need some time to organize your thoughts and opinions on what is happening. Good luck and you must be a pretty good daughter also for your mom to trust you enough to share her life's problems with you.

Attention getting, narcissistic. The thing is people who do that are selfish. Tell her that your concern is that discussing the problems feeds them and makes them greater so you know she will understand if you try to turn the conversation to something more cheerful. I truly believe the conventional talk therapy where people re hash their past doesnt help at all and it applys to the present also. Take command of the conversatiion by interrupting next time she starts, and say' Gee mom this is bringing me down lets talk about the weather".

Hi kiki,
Look at ur mom in a different light instead of treating her like a "******"..Listen to her problems for a change..When u reach her stage, u will encounter these same problems..Ur mother seems to be someone with plenty of problems but with nobody to share them with..U seem to be the person she feels comfortable unburdening her problems. It's a real relief to unburden a problem to someone else..Be that good listener with your mom. When she starts to have that connection/bonding with you, u will begin to see some of her best positive traits...One day when it's your turn to become a parent, ul remember everything she tells u now.

bcuz ur mom is a girl.
ur mother also trust u and likes to c what her daughter would say about her problems. maybe ur mother is smart and getting differnet perspective. instead from an adult, she gets it from a teen? im guessing ur a teen.
help her out as much as possible bcuz giving advice and helping other people is a skill and the best way to have great friends and meet them in the beginning. i should know =P

Maybe she enjoys talking to you. Do have some good insight to her problems? I wish that my mom talked to me more than she does, instead she battles everything on her own while I watch helplessly.

Because you're easy to talk to, she values your opinions and she appreciates the support and comfort that you give her.
I don't know your age or what kind of problems she's talking to you about. If you feel that she's putting too much pressure on you, you need to let her know.

If you are the only child or the oldest of your siblings, then she looks at you as the next "adult" so maybe she feels you can relate to what she's telling you..or maybe its because the two of you are alike or she doesnt trust anyone else with her true feelings/thoughts for the fact they might judge her so i think you are her comfort zone..she can come to you and de~stress...

Perhaps she doesn't have anyone else to talk to or she trusts you more than anyone else.
I know that it can be frustrating at times, but you should find comfort in the fact that she will talk about her problems with you. I know it's hard, but be as supportive as you can!
