Not sure what this has to do with dental?
but anyway, it happens to folks who have celiac sprue, which is a malabsorption syndrome. You may have eaten too much of something you don't digest well, like bread or some other grain. I would not worry unless it continues and causes you distress...
Oh, it can also happen if you are eating chips made with fake fat ( Olestra ) or taking Xenical or Alli, but that's more oily than floaty.

I have heard that it is from gas, the gas makes it float. I guess the gas did not come out in other ways and so it is trapped in the waste and holds it up , so to speak, Maybe you ate some gassy food ,broccoli, beans etc and that caused the floating.

HELLO,
WHEN #2 FLOATS INSTEAD OF NORMALLY SINKING IT MEANS THAT THERE WAS INCOMPLETE ABSORPTION AND DIGESTION OF YOUR FOOD.
THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE TYPE OF FOOD YOU ATE THAT TIME.
IF THIS HAPPENED THAT ONE TIME THEN MOST LIKELY IT WAS A DIET CHANGE. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ATE, AND JUST GO BACK TO EATING WHAT YOU ATE BEFORE.
