Believed to have carpal tunnel for about 5 years, though these are new symptoms, not sure if it is just another symptom of carpal tunnel or possibe arthritis-but at my age?

this could be arthritis. it's also part of what would happen with carpal tunnel syndrome. I recommend you soak your hands in hot water with one couple of dissolved Epsom salts for fifteen minutes, twice daily. Afterwards massage an analgesic cream into the painful areas. Advil liquid capsules work very good on relieving pain. Take them four times daily. I recommend you purchase wrist supports at the drugstore and wear them when working.

Next time you see your medical doctor ask about checking for arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome.

This sounds like arthritis. The cold does make it hurt which is typical, do the joints hurt too? What I found that alleviate the pain is the Tylenol for Arthritis, works great, better than the stuff my doctor gives me!

Sounds like arthritis... don't let your age confuse you... young people are just as prone to getting arthritis as older people. It's all based on the activities you perform on a daily basis...

for example, my friend Tracy was 27 at the time she was diagnosed with arthritis. She was a massage therapist and the arthritis was caused from massaging so often.

Check with a doctor.
