All the above answers are correct, so I'll just add a little info taken from Wikipedia, which I edited a little.
A Shirley Temple is a non-alcoholic cocktail (or mocktail) made with ginger ale, grenadine syrup, and orange juice garnished with the maraschino cherry and slice of lemon [1]. The ginger ale is commonly substituted with 7 Up, Sprite, or similar lemon-lime soft drink, and the orange juice is commonly left out. It is often served to children dining with elders to let them share the experience of drinking a cocktail, which is why it is sometimes called a kiddie cocktail.
The drink was invented by a bartender at Chasen's restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA. Who named many drinks after the celebrities of the time named this non-alcoholic drink after child actress Shirley Temple
When Shirley herself is asked for her opinion of these drinks named for her, she invariably replies that she dislikes them because they are too sweet, and that she does not gain earnings for the use of her name

Shirley Temple
Fill a Highball glass almost full of ice cubes.
Pour all ingredients into the Highball glass and stir well.
Garnish with a Lime Wedge and a Maraschino Cherry.

1 tsp.Grenadine
3 oz. Ginger Ale
3 oz. Lemon Lime soda

A Shirley Temple is always non0alcoholic.
Simply pour gingerale (you can substitute 7-UP or Sprite if you prefer) over ice. Slowly drizzle in grenadine syrup and garnish with a cherry. If you want to get fancy add a slice of orange or lemon on the rim of the glass and there you go.

There is never alcohol in a Shirley temple (it is a non-alcoholic cocktail) It is made by adding Grenadine and a maraschino cherry to iced 7-up. Good Luck!

A Shirley Temple is Ginger ale with Grenadine . A Roy Rogers is Coca-Cola with Grenadine. Vodka or Rum in the drink will taste good.

Seven-up and grenadine. They are so gooooood!!!!!!! I did'nt know the had an alcoholic shirley temple,if so then I think it might be called something else. Who know's. Enjoy your party!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, dont forget the marachino cherry.

4 or 5 tablespoons of grenadine and a cup and a half of ginger ale. Put it in a fancy glass (similar to a wine glass) and put in a cherry and a straw.

It's just Sprite and maraschino cherry juice. That's it. You can get some of the green cherries, and try non-alcohol blue curacao for variety.
