American Rebel - you need to see and understand this that any1 who comes in any country and apply for asylum that doesn't meann they are illegal & also cause of others you can't judge all of the asylum seekers as they are illegal.
I'm sorry to say that but you need to learn how to respect human beings. Asylum seekers has also right to live a life like every other people in this world!

Anyone without permanent residence in the UK would need to get a Certificate of Approval from the Home Office before they could register a marriage. Religious ceremonies can go ahead without the CoA, but would not affect the non-resident's immigration status.
It is extremely unlikely that a CoA would be granted to an asylum-seeker, ie someone whose status in UK has not been decided yet. On the other hand, someone with refugee status would not need prior approval.
The law about CoAs is currently in a state of flux. You should definitely seek professional advice before making any arrangements. Please understand that even if an asylum-seeker marries a UK citizen, this does not mean he will be able to remain here if his claim for asylum is refused.

It can be difficult. The first thing you need is a certificate of marriage approval and that can be held up indefinitley until their asylum has been sorted. Thats why most asylum from say Albania go back home and try to get back with a marriage visa.
I applied last yr with my Albanian ex and we never heard back from homeoffice and then we split.
I recently did it again and because my husband was here on a student visa it was pretty plain sailing. then you have to apply for limited leave to remain that lasts two yrs... if you still ok together then you can apply for indefinite leave and a year after that you can apply for uk citizenship. The new test is in force as well. There are some quite gruelling questions and you really need to be together for real or I reckon it will show. You can get benefits for you and if you have any uk children but he or any of his dependents are def not allowed, nor housing benefit.
Phone home office for more advice, its better than trying to search their website.
Good luck

You will not be able to marry an asylum seeker in spite of what the replys says on here. The laws were changed in 2005 and a valid visa must be in place called a Fiancee Visa which is issued at the British Embassy in the country of residence. The cost of this rose to £500 as from Jan 2007.

I do not think when it comes down to it that anyone particularly wants to make life ark ward for a genuine asylum seeker, it's just that many people here on answers feel that the system is abused

If they are not European, then I think they will need to apply for a visa - or at least get permission from the Home Office - it will not be easy. I would wait to see if they are offered asylum here first and then contact an immigration lawyer. It is definitely not as simple as turn up with a passport - sorry!! Also, ignore the normal boring anti-immigration rubbish you always get.....yawn.....and good luck!

I think you are quite at liberty to marry who you like. But you will not get residential status if they do not have it.
No one will prevent the marriage.
