Just to reassure you somewhat . . the term breast cancer is an 'umbrella' term for 13 different subtypes of breast cancer.

There is an email that is passed along delivering this information as if it were 'new' . . but it is old information based on a half truth.

Yes there is a type of breast cancer called IBC . . . it is a rare subtype of disease. So, even though the information is true . . the information does not tell you that only about 1 to 3 percent will get this. It might be good to know about, but the problem is far greater than you even know.

There are over 200 different cancers and even more subtypes of cancer and another 200 rare types of cancer. This is just one rare one. You can watch out for it, but you have more of a chance of getting osteosarcoma, primitive neuroectodermal tumor, brain stem glioma, alveolar soft part sarcoma, or hundreds of other cancers before this one .

True . . but . . extremely rare.

List of the common and uncommon types of breast cancer:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/breast-cancer/HQ00348

1. Ductal carcinoma in situ
2. Lobular carcinoma in situ
3. Invasive ductal carcinoma
4. Invasive lobular carcinoma
5. Inflamatory breast cancer
6. Medullary carcinoma
7. Mucinous carcinoma
8. Paget's disease of the breast
9. Tubular carcinoma
10. Phylioides tumor
11. Metaplastic carcinoma
12. Sarcoma of the breast
13. Micropapillary carcinoma
14. Adenoid cystic carcinoma

The problem isn't that young women need to know about this one rare breast cancer, the problem is that young people in general do not know they can get cancer too. There are specific types of cancer that teens and young adults get. You can find them online.

I've heard of this and they actually thought my mother-in-law had it at one point. An inflamation of the milk ducts can mimic IBC and the symptoms are virtually the same. She had a biopsy and was fine but it was scary. All the more reason to get yourself checked if you notice something unusual. Hearing "it's cancer" isn't the worst thing ever. Hearing "it's cancer and we caught it too late" is.

There are many forms of cancer, and many forms of breast cancer.
Inflamatory Breast Cancer is just one of the less common forms.
Sadly, this is the one more likely to be found in younger women, but it is still very rare.
I had a cancer in my breast, that isn't even considered Breast Cancer, and so uncommon it doesn't make it to Panda's list!
