Well, if your shower is October 28th, I'd have the RSVP date by October 21st. That's the week before. I would send out the invites 5 weeks before the shower. So around September 17 or so.

it depends on the location and the food service. if you have a location that you booked or a caterer, they will probably require notice. you want to make sure that the guests receive the invitation at least 2-3 full weeks before the RSVP date.

3-4 weeks should be enough time. However, if there are guests that live far away, you might want to send out a 'save the date' card so they can make travel arrangements.

always send them out 30 days before and rsvp at least 10 -15 days before the event it gives you time to call people to see if they planed on comming but were to lazy to send back the slips

Try three or four weeks before the party, then people are inormed a long time before the fact so more people can keep there schedule clear.
