I have a AMD Athlon XP 2006+ 1.92 GHZ and 256 RAM. The problem is that my computer was working kind of slow and i figured that installing xp again would make it really fast so i got a copy of xp from my friend and i installed it on my computer. After the installation, everything was deleted like i expected but the computer was'nt working as fast as i expected, then i checked my computer space by right clicking on Local Disk C: and it was the same as before! my total space is 75 gb but i had used 28 gb and after the installation i thought i would have 75gb of free space but instead it was the same amount of free space, 47gb. Also i think the soound from the speakers isnt as loud as it used to be. My comp has Nvidia drivers. Also i download a game called 2 moons and it shuts down atumatically, could it be a problem with the video card because my system definetely meets the requirements, maybe the game has a problem but thats not what it looks like. Thank You for you're help

If it has old files that were there before you reinstalled Windows (taking up that hard drive space you talked about), it is possible that Windows didn't reformat your hard drive (and if it's XP, that's very possible, using the Safe Recovery method). If you want to COMPLETELY start over, losing ALL files, and installing a FRESH, out of the box install of XP, you'll want to do a full recovery, or use a tool such as GParted to delete your partition entirely before installing. This will ensure that all data is erased and you have a completely new system...but be warned that formatting deletes all your personal files on the drive you're installing on, so back up music, videos, pictures, application data, and other stuff that you want to save before you format.

You more in likely have a 80 gb hard drive. XP takes a certain amount of space regardless. XP normally takes around 4 gb or so of space. When you add the service pack 2, and your game and windows updates and anything else you put on this all takes space. As for it being slow, there could be a number of reasons, especially since you have reloaded the operating system and I'd start with your hardware and the 256 mb of ram. That isn't enough. I recommend bumping that up to at least 512 but i'd go for more depending on what the max your system can hold.
Disk defrag will not help in your case seeing as you dont have much on that hard drive. Disk Cleanup will not help in this case either. I do not believe its your video card. If you put more ram in that pc i believe you will not only see a performance improvement but i believe that game will play.

If you haven't done a system restore, you should try it. The computer makes safepoints and you can go back to that safepoint. Anything done past the safepoint whether you downloaded something or got a virus will be deleted.

Disk cleanup.
Defrag the hard drive.
Run virus protection.
Or uninstall virus protection if clean.
