The thing about eating so few calories is that you are depriving your body of the nutrients that it needs to actually make your body work properly. You could create an iron deficiency among other things. Also, if your body feels like it is not getting enough food, your metabolism drops and you'll loose weight slower than if you ate healthier and moved around a bit more. The food that makes you feel fattening and gross and that makes you turn into a cow probably is just that. Go to your doctor and talk it over, but my suggestion is that you stay away from the processed foods and eat more percentage of your foods from the produce section and just move! By the way 5'2 and 135 is not obese by any means. You are actually a healthy weight. I would take another look in the mirror and check my self esteem.

Starving WILL cause you to gain weight VERY quickly and easily once you start eating again.

So unless you plan on starving yourself for the rest of your life - there is no point. It's better to just make a lifestyle change. Incorporate healthy eating and excersize into your life and the weight will come off and STAY off.

I don't know how she does it. Maybe it's just an illusion. Maybe she has other problems. Maybe she excersizes a lot. Maybe you just see her eating that big amount. But for the rest of the day - she starves. Maybe she just already had a super fast metabolism..You just don't know.

When you first begin to not eat, your body lives off of it's "fat reserves" actually grabbing all it can from ANYTHING you may put in it, milk, soda, etc. It's a safety for your body in case their actually IS a depression and your family can't afford to feed you.
Since you're actually talking about starving yourself, which is incredibly UNWISE, what happens is this:
After about a month or so, your body runs out of reserves, it realizes that nothings going to change, there's nothing for it to take from, and you start to lose weight. Starving yourself also leads to dehydration, hair loss, and possible heart failure. It's nothing but a slow suicide.

The weight they are losing is the actuall mass of thier body. It's not just fat, it's muscle, mineral, and water. At some point your body will start getting its energy from somewhere. Muscle is the most likely, since fat is such a prized commodity to a starving body. No healthy thing will come of it.

You do lose weight when you starve yourself but you lose the wrong kind of weight, muscle. And about your sisterif she continues to shove six dollar burgers down her throat her weight will start to accumulate in her 20s if she dosen't watch herself plus it's not good for her heard.

The human body is an amazing survival mechanism. When you starve yourself you will lose a few pounds at the beginning. However, after a while your body gets used to surviving on the calories you are taking in. So if you only take in a few hundred calories, your body will think it is going through a famine and function by only burning that many calories a day. When you eat more than the regular amount, the body stores that extra amount in order to "make it through the famine".

You will lose weight as your mucsles will break down, but the fat will be the last thing to break down and go, so when you start eating again, all the food will turn straight into fat.

It's not ideal, I wouldn't suggest it at all.

"weight" on the scale does not equate to decreasing the body fat percentage. what is the point of losing 20 lbs on the scale but your body fat has increased because the majority of the weight lost was muscle? the person is now fatter than they were previously. this is the trap that fad dieters and those that practice starvation fall into. the see a decrease on the scale but they still have the same problem areas because the body composition or the amount of muscle and fat has not changing in a positive manner.

the "goal" of dieting to improve the health is to maximize the loss of body fat while preserving as much muscle mass as possible.
