Often i will see a post from a theist that i have a very real and non-offensive rebuttal too but they never accept email? Is this a continuation of the blinders of religions?

1: email option isn't automatically checked. also you have to confirm your email/screename
2: a few of them are annoyed by arguments outside the forum. so they avoid the issue. smart actually! :)

I, for one, am never afraid of any adult debate. I simply don't care to have my e-mail piled up by people I don't know, many of whom are lunatics reaching out for someone to jump on their lunatical bandwagon.

I can read a question and place my answer just fine here. I have no "blinders" and stand my ground just fine on what I know to be true. I have been part of chat rooms where debates and other information exchange occurs - I read what anyone has to say and state my rebuttal. I have encountered both on line and personally, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Atheists, Evolutionists and others and can look them straight in the eye, listen to what they have to say - without blinders - and give them an intelligent and knowledgeable response in a mature manner.

For me, simply - I just don't want my e-mail out for the world to get a hold of. It is simple, practical use of my time and resources.

I am a theist and do not accept e-mail from people I do not know to avoid spam. It has nothing to with "blinders." This is a forum to primarily post your answer or rebuttal, not to enter into a private exchange.

Well, I'm just guessing here, but because while you have a respectful argument others do not. So they get tired of trying to defend their beliefs and getting "hate" mail.

Also, in most cases, it's just not worth arguing. Neither side will change their way of thinking. You may rely on science and tangible reasoning, but they rely on faith. And faith is something, like love, that can't be explained to someone who has never experienced or wishes to experience it.

I think that it just comes down to not every one wants to receive e-mails maybe not so much that they don't want to have a rebuttal with others.

I believe in God but I don't except e-mails either from others. I already receive so much e-mail that I hardly have time to read the ones that I am already getting.

I'm a Christian and I accept e-mail.

I notice a lot of people don't accept e-mail on here. I guess they are fearful they will receive hate mail. (Which makes you wonder if that fear is caused by guilt for what they say.) The only offensive e-mail I've received has been from anti-gay Christians trying to justify their homophobia. (It didn't work.)

let's see some figures on the percentage of 'theists' who don't accept e-mail, or is this one of those "made up in the head" kind of 'mosts' and 'nevers' that are good only for generalizations, bar mitzvahs, and the occasional smoker? cause i gotta tell ya, i get some "CRAZIES" e-mailing me-along with some truly cool folks

Maybe they don't know this verse from the Bible.

Luke 6:22 "Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!

Yes, that or possibly they used to accept e-mail but got tired of being corrected, so they turned it off so that they wouldn't get criticism anymore, which will give them the illusion that they are right.

dougness, be fair...there just as many from every group that I have seen that don't allow e-mail or are "private" to all but a select few.

Peace be with you :)
