I'm looking seriously at both of them. I meet the qualifications and requirements. I'm just trying to weigh the benefits of both and see where I'd fit in the best. Any insight would be much appreciated.

I would suggest that you go on ride alongs if your city offers them and go and hang out at your local fire dept, ask questions from both coppers and fire guys, of course you won't know until you are doing it. They are both good and honorable jobs. both can be thankless many times but everyone in it does it to serve, you will put your life on the line many times, possibly get hurt or even die and you will have to work holidays but it's all about helping others, for me 21 years later I still enjoy helping people, even when they don't realize of want it. All in all it is very rewarding but it will all be up to you because it's what you make it. You can just try to do it for the money or really try to make a difference even if it is just a Small thing. ATTITUDE.....

I would much rather be a fire fighter. They work like 5 days, and then get 5 days off. fire fighters are way hotter, and more well liked, plus where ever your stationed those guys become your family. I think being a fire fighter would be a lot more rewarding.
There is a lot of stress involved in being a cop. Good Luck on choosing.

depends on the area where you live. some fire stations don't pay, it's voluntary.
some do.
really it's just a matter of which you want to do more. run after bad guys or in to burning buildings
if you are in an area that gets a lot of police calls and not many fire calls you might be sitting on your butt alot at the firehouse.
can you do both?
be an officer and on your days off work at the fire house as a vol?

I would be a cop because at the end of your shift you get to go home firefighters have to stay in the station....also in the long run being a firefighter will catch up to you...your back will hurt your knees will be messed up from carrying those heavy hoses running up and down the latters an buring buildings...a cop you just chill and respond to calls..law enforcment all the way...you got back up good tranning so you'll be ok...

Well in either job you will be doing something for the people.

BUT in one job people will despise (cop)

In the other people will look up to you and treat you a whole lot different.
