How do you determine a cat's gender?

Question

This may sound pretty dumb and I feel almost like an idiot for asking, but do male and female cats have nipples? I ask because the previous owners of my kittens never told me their genders, only that there were 2 males and 2 females. It looks to me that 3 kittens have them instead of just two.

All cats have nipples!The males are a little smaller though.I counted nipples on my cat (female) she has 8 my male They are so small I can't count more than 3.Look at between the kittens legs while they are on their backs.If it is a what I call a bubble (I don't say the real name) then its a boy. If they were older and more matuer.(ready to be neutered) then you can just look at the butt. Sometimes you can see it on a kitten but easier when you look at it the hard way.(=^.^=)

Yes. Both female AND male kittens have nipples. Human children both have similar looking nipples, too. It's just, when puberty happens, a human womans nipples look different.

With kittens, it is hard to tell for absolutely sure until the males testicles have dropped (6-8 weeks, I think). You can make a pretty good guess, but I have had kittens that I swore were female, until one day *poof* their testicles dropped and poor litte Sally turned into a Sam, lol.

Yes both male and female cats have nipples - just like male and female humans.

The way to tell the difference between a male and female cat is to lift their tail & look at their butt.

If their butt looks like an upside down explination mark ( ! ) their anus being the "dot" part the kitten is a female.

However if ther gap between the two holes is larger & looks more like a colun ( : ) you have yourself a male...males also have a little lump between their anus and their penis where their testicles will be once they have matured enough for their testicles to "drop"

They all have nipples (just like humans). You'll have to check the back end for a nutsack to see if it's a boy or not.
